Dubols
Home Care Policies & Procedures for Nannies:
All business undertaken by Dubols
Home Care (hereinafter referred to as the “Agency”)
is undertaken subject to the terms and conditions as
set below. No variation of these terms and conditions
can be made unless expressly confirmed by the Agency
in writing.
If a Nanny decides to terminate
her contract with a client, a two weeks notice will
be given to the client in order to identify a replacement.
Nannies cannot ask for time
off from the client during the probationary period of
eight weeks.
On behalf of the nanny, the client
shall forward to the Agency the nanny’s first
week’s paycheck. This is a service fee payable
by the nanny to the agency after successful placement
with the client.
Where applicable, the client
is responsible for all National insurance and taxation
matters and any such payments relating to any applicant
engaged by the client.
The Nanny is forbidden to enter
the client’s private living space such as the
client’s bedroom, bathroom or closet without the
sole consent of the client.
The Nanny must use his/her discretion
on telephone usage while at the client’s residence.
Long and lengthy telephone conversations are not permitted
while the Nanny is on duty.
It is advisable that nannies
must not take everything that happens in a home personally.
In some cases your employer is in a bad mood, he/she
(or both) may have had a difficult day at work, not
because of something you did or did not do. Oftentimes,
the employer may not realize that what they are doing
is upsetting. Nannies must be patient!
Communication is essential and
we ask that nannies communicate with parents as to the
general welfare of the children regularly. All issues
concerning the children’s welfare must be brought
to the attention of the parents in a timely manner.
Nannies must not assume that
the client can read their minds; therefore nannies must
speak up for themselves in a polite manner.
The agency requires nannies to
be patient and kind with the children under their care.
No Nanny is permitted to physically
discipline a child. Any Nanny caught being physically
abusive towards any child under their care shall be
persecuted to the full extent of the law.
The typical workweek for a Nanny’s
starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday. The tour of duty
starts at 6:30am to 8:30pm every day with the exception
of Friday on the Nanny’s weekend off. On the day
of the Nanny’s weekend off, the Nanny must perform
all the duties and responsibilities she performs on
a regular weeknight before leaving for the evening.
Most families request that a
nanny make a minimum commitment of one year to the job.
This is to make sure that the children have continuity
in their childcare. Candidates who do not feel that
they can commit to a year might consider other types
of childcare work until they are comfortable with the
commitment.
Any task, which is directly related
to childcare, can be within the realm of a nanny’s
job description. You should generally expect to also
perform various daily tasks (straightening up after
the meals you cook, doing the children’s laundry,
making the children’s beds, helping them pick-up
at the end of the day etc.), which while not the most
enjoyable part of each day, are reasonable expectations
and a practical need for busy parents.
Never agree to take on tasks
which you are either unqualified to perform or which
you know you will relegate to the bottom of the list,
never to get done or done properly. It is much better
to simply state that you cannot manage to get the hang
of laundry, than to agree to perform the task and repeatedly
do a miserable job.
